Khoobsurat is a dull show
In conversation with the cast of Khoobsurat
We got talking to the Khoobsurat actors – Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan – and here’s what they had to say.
Rekha, Sridevi attend Khoobsurat special screening
The film directed by Shashanka Ghosh will release on September 19.
Khoobsurat is a remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1980 film by the same name, starring Rekha in the lead role. Mili (Sonam Kapoor) is a physiotherapist in Delhi. The free spirited doctor is sent to Rajasthan to treat the paraplegic Shekhar Rathore, Raja of Sambalgarh, who is now on a wheelchair.
Soon after reaching, she realizes that it’s not easy for her to adjust in the palatial household and follow the rules, which are strictly implemented by Nirmala Devi Rathore (Ratna Pathak). Their son Yuvraj Singh (Fawad Khan) is all about business and work. He is engaged to a girl from Mumbai but now that Mili is in the house and they end up spending some time together, she eventually becomes the reason for his separation.
Sonam Kapoor looks gorgeous and puts in sincere efforts in playing the clumsy doctor. Fawad Khan is brilliant, he is the best part of this film. He gets into the skin of the character making us wonder who in Bollywood could have pulled off the role of a snobbish prince with such class, he definitely makes a mark in his debut Bollywood film. Ratna Pathak too delivers a fabulous performance. Kirron Kher is the usual Punjabi mother but as long as she is making us laugh, we are not complaining. Apart from decent performances and some memorable scenes, Khoobsurat has nothing new to offer. The film is not engaging at all.Sonam Kapoor looks great and is talented but needs to experiment a little.
Looks like Khoobsurat is for the multiplex audience but I’m not sure if today’s generation will enjoy a dull show like this one.
